The Ethical Landscape of Smudging: A Conversation with Rashida

In my latest video, I discuss the ethical considerations surrounding smudging. This ancient ritual, deeply rooted in various cultures, has found its way into pop culture. Unfortunately, without awareness of history and traditions, we engage in cultural appropriation when we blindly follow trends. My goal is to encourage cultural appreciation.

In this presentation, I shed light on the importance of decolonizing our approach to spiritual practices, emphasizing the need to recall and revere the rich cultural history from which these rituals originate.

My concerns about the commercialization of these sacred practices are caused by non-natives engaging in ceremonies without proper recognition or acknowledgment. I challenge you to reconsider your own participation in such activities.
